Core Job Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant (RA) will play a key role in supporting the implementation of a pilot intervention designed to enhance the quality of maternal and child health (MCH) care. The Research Assistant will assist with data collection, thorough documentation, and effective coordination at both district and facility levels, ensuring the seamless execution and success of the pilot project.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Collect data from facility records on antenatal care and enter the data into Excel for reporting to the National Office.
- Assist in extracting relevant data from the Health Management Information System (HMIS) on pertinent evaluation indicators.
- Assist TCI National and City Teams in establishing a Quality Committee (QC) to oversee quality of care activities.
- Conduct 384 antenatal care client observations at basic health units (108 in Karachi East).
- Administer 384 client-exit interviews with women exiting basic health units after delivery (108 in Karachi East).
- Assist in establishing Quality Teams within healthcare facilities.
- Coordinate and convene district-level meetings to discuss the quality improvement plan.
- Support the identification of priority quality improvement activities for the district.
- Contribute to developing the District Improvement Plan.
- Contribute to the development of Facility Quality Improvement Plans.
- Document the roles and responsibilities of District Health Management Team staff and partners.
- Coordinate supervision and oversight activities for quality improvement at the district level.
- Review facility information, identify gaps based on national quality of care standards, and articulate facility needs.
- Help establish mechanisms for in-service clinical and quality improvement capacity-building.
- Support the creation of mentoring and coaching mechanisms led by facility quality improvement teams.
- Monitor and document ongoing quality improvement activities at the facility level.
- Provide on-site coaching support for facility staff as needed.
- Provide additional documentation and coordination support as needed.
Key Success Factors:
- Proficiency in English and local languages (Sindhi preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data collection tools and MS Excel.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities for quality improvement activities.
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings effectively.
- Willingness to travel within Karachi as needed.
Job Specification:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a medical or health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Public Health, Medicine).
Experience (Min – Max): 3-4 Years.
Knowledge: Experience in data collection, public health program implementation, or quality improvement in healthcare settings is preferred.
