Social Mobilization Including Male and Youth Engagement
Male Engagement and services through non-traditional providers: Greenstar has also been working in communities through its male engagement model that works on behavioral change communication (BCC). With a network of male practitioners (traditionally: hakeems and homeopaths) and GPs, Greenstar educates and counsels men about family planning and family health needs. Greenstar regularly organizes awareness and counselling sessions with men on health areas like family planning, healthy birth spacing, gender equality and diversity and inclusion knowing men play an integral role in our society in shaping a more respectable society for women to freely live and exercise her rights. A program supported by Punjab Population Innovation Fund (PPIF) in Faisalabad & Bahawalpur districts focused on generating demand for modern family planning through behavior change both in men and women for adoption of modern FP methods and ensure quality services with products that are affordable through pharmacies, female service providers, male GPs, Hakims, and homeopaths. Around 54,517 people were reached through the programme’s awareness sessions with female and 35,064 with male workers respectively. As a result of these activities around 44,558 couples adopted FP methods. Out of total FP users, 8,845 were new users and 16,628 opted long-term method.
